THE SUBTLE ART OF NOT GIVING A FUCK
COMMUNITY REVIEW:
"THE KEY TO A GOOD LIFE IS NOT ABOUT GIVING A FUCK ABOUT MORE, IT'S ABOUT GIVING A FUCK ABOUT LESS, [...] ONLY WHAT IS TRUE AND IMMEDIATE AND IMPORTANT."
"If you want to be more self-confident and life life the way you want, if you want to have more peace in your life - this is the book."
KEY TAKE-AWAYS:
-The importance of accepting discomfort and embracing the inevitable struggles of life.
-The value of setting realistic expectations and focusing on what is within our control.
-The concept of choosing what to care about and letting go of unnecessary worries and insecurities.
INTRO & PERSONAL:
'The Subtle Art of not Giving a Fuck' is a very unconventional self development book. It offers a counterintuitive approach to living a better life. Compared to the usual "meaningless positivity" of self-help books, Mark Manson argues to face and accept things headon for what they are.
With blunt honesty and quite some profanity - as the title already hints at - he communicates his ideas and shares about his past experiences wonderfully.
Offering a fresh look on lifes problems and struggles this book gets you to think about what is really important - What fucks should you really give? Where do you chose to spend your fucks?
A very easy and quick read, entertaining yet insightful. The very direct language made it feel like a simple conversation with the author. The book helped me gaining a more open approach to life, failures, pain - more acceptance and calm in general. Really recommendable experience.
